![]() In summary I have decided to keep the King Cobra's. They have not been unhooked since first use. The two were love at first play, and just keep getting better together. The other set of KC's on the Onkyo CDP continues to impress. ![]() Her voice while at times was sublime, but when some overzealous miking made her voice harsh, it was real harsh. This album had more deadwax artisan markings than I can ever remember being on one record. The second album is a popular female vocalist, that sings light Jazz. The AQ's were quite nice on this LP, revealing more softly played instruments in the background. The same album has some marvelous percussion passages in both the midrange and treble region. The depth and clarity of the monster bass note was huge in its impact of improving the listening experience. The first album has a huge bass note a couple minutes in. Records that are well mastered and pressed are why these cables are made. Both have great sonics across the frequency spectrum. Not important what I listened to as I am very familiar with both. Gave some thought to returning them today, until I played a couple of my system evaluation LP's. I was not even going to try them until I noticed they upgraded their return period. Well the time has come to either keep or return the King Cobra's, as Music Direct's 60 day return policy is about up. But will still deliver a PIP moment now and then. Might be hard to do, as the stylus may in its later stages of life. Have not formed an definite opinion yet using the SAS stylus. The best part is that ordinary pressings sound more focused and airy, sort of like Bob Ludwig came over to your house, and remastered your entire library. The cables have elevated the performance characteristics of the stylus, details are improved and more transparent. The last 3 or 4 records have been eye opening. The KC's on the Traveler are taking longer to break in because of less use lately, due to more use of the CDP. Easily a extra full octave of clear bass, not sure if the bass really goes that much lower in frequency, but what is reproduced is much cleaner and clearer (open), yet full. More about the new BJC's later.Īs noted earlier the Onkyo C-7030 and the AQ just really seem to like each other. That connection is by the BJC LC-1's that I previously had. Both lead to the pre in a HK modern receiver, which is sent to the Carver amp. I now have both sets of 1M King Cobra's in use, one on the VPI Traveler and the other on the Onkyo CDP. Just wanted to give my initial impressions. I know that neither cable is broken in and things will change. They had a thinner sound than the BJC's although with good detail and aire.Ī short summary and intial impressions are that the King Cobra's and the Wolfson DAC like each other, and the BJC's seem to be a really good versatile cable. When the King Cobra's went to the TT the SQ playing the same music as before, was not as impressive. Also the timbre of the music was changed for the better. More detail and aire between the instruments. This CDP which had so impressed me all along, now sounds like a CDP much higher up the food chain. These easily had a full octave of bass that the other cables were not passing. These so blew away the cables that were on the Onkyo (not the new BJC's). I played Kamakiriad by Steely Dan for their debut. My first listen to these was on the CDP after they had a silent 50 minute break in while I listened to the BJC on the TT. I have acquired two 1 meter stereo pairs for $120 each. The Audioquest King Cobra's were recommended to me by several folks in a recent thread. Then I gave them a spin on the Onkyo C-7030 after listening to the King Cobra's on the CDP and the impressive SQ came along for the ride. The SAS sounds more refined with the new cable, IMO probably because of the higher capacitance. ![]() I think these are a better match to my TT/Cart/Stylus setup than the LC-1's. The construction and SQ is impressive for a $45 dollar in the door cable. The red/white combos look great, and have a nice cover, but not rubber. The cables are much more flexible, and a lot lighter, important if your cables are not anchored. I ordered the Belden 1505F cables this time. Liked the sound, hated the stiff cables, that actually damaged my TT. At one time I had a BJC LC-1's on the TT. Used a frequently played RL mastered disk. I first put the BJC's on the Traveler TT. Received some advice from a moderator to post my review here.īoth are 1 meter RCA tipped and both have about the same amount of use.
